Did you know that the average American throws away approximately 185 pounds of plastic per year?!!
I am excited for you to incorporate my handmade beeswax wraps in your home to make your life easier, eliminate unnecessary toxins with common food storage, and help with the horrible problem we have with the environment due to excessive waste!
One particular concern is that cling wrap is made from Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) which contains hormone-disrupting phthalates, a chemical that keeps plastic soft., which has been described as one of the most dangerous consumer products. It leaches harmful substances which
have been linked to negative effects on the liver, spleen, kidneys, bone formation and body weight. PVC is also linked to cancer. Some wraps are dipped in mineral products, some of which may contain aluminum, which is linked to Alzheimer’s. In addition, you may be allergic to some of the ingredients used in the wrap. UK Cancer Research even warns “Do not allow cling wrap to come into direct contact with food when heating it” - That does not sound like something we should be incorporating with our food storage! This is a simple switch you can make in your home to improve you and your family’s health!
My beeswax wraps help keep food fresh without the nasty toxins associated with plastic food wraps! They are an eco-friendly alternative to plastic wraps, plastic baggies, and even foils. *Better for the planet and your health! They protect food from air and moisture, while still allowing it to breathe! (think how the peels on some fruits or veggies work) Wrap a sandwich, snack, cheese, fruit, etc… or cover your dishes to store leftovers. Use the warmth of your hands to form this product over the top of a dish or a snack. You can also fold these wraps different ways to create wraps for snacks! (In my opinion, the better you are at gift wrapping, the prettier your folded wraps will look for snacks! haha) The wrap will hold its shape when it cools, creating a seal over dishes. They are made with local beeswax (From the same bees that make the honey in my Organic Elderberry Syrup Recipe!), 100% cotton fabric, pine resin and jojoba oil. These are naturally anti-bacterial (excellent with food storage in the fridge!) No harmful chemicals!
Care: Hand wash with COOL water (and if needed a mild detergent). Allow to air dry, or towel dry for immediate use and reuse. Each one should last up to one year with proper care. Not recommended for raw meat. No microwave or oven use. Allow foods/snacks to cool before storing in wraps. Stains and creases are normal with use. Consider it “character” …You can minimize staining by rinsing with cold water shortly after food has been removed. Avoid prolonged contact with oily or greasy foods.
These are made with love with your health and the environment in mind! I am always looking for ways to help improve the lives of those around me. This is a simple switch we are making in our home and I figured I’m not the only one wanting less toxins in our home and less waste for our environment…..this is the end result of my thought process! I am really excited for you to incorporate these into your lifestyle!
